I’m delighted to share some fantastic news with you. After months of campaigning and gathering evidence from across our community, LINK has now recommended a Banking Hub for Pembroke Dock. We did it!
This is a major step forward for our town and the wider South Pembrokeshire area.
As many of you know, Pembroke Dock has been without any in-person banking services since the closure of its final bank branch. That loss has had a real impact on older residents, vulnerable people and small businesses who rely on face-to-face support and access to cash.
Over the past year I have been working to build the case for a Banking Hub. This has included:

Writing to the Financial Conduct Authority and HM Treasury about the national framework for protecting access to cash

Raising concerns with the Welsh Government and the Older People’s Commissioner for Wales

Gathering evidence from residents, businesses and community groups about the impact of losing our last bank

Launching and promoting a community petition, which has now been signed by more than 1,500 residents and businesses

Delivering a face-to-face community meeting in Pembroke Dock with LINK.

Secured an in person reassessment in the community
Your support has been absolutely vital. Those signatures sent a clear message that our community needs and deserves better access to banking services.
Earlier in the campaign I also formally asked LINK to hold a face-to-face meeting in Pembroke Dock so they could hear directly from residents and see the geography of South Pembrokeshire for themselves. It was important that they understood that a hub here would serve the wider community, not just the town itself.
While LINK’s recommendation is a huge step forward, the work isn’t finished yet. I will continue working with LINK and the community to ensure that this recommendation becomes a fully operational Banking Hub for Pembroke Dock.
It has been a real honour to lead this campaign and to have the trust of so many residents and local businesses. This progress belongs to everyone who signed, shared, and spoke up.
